Project 365 8-21-2010 Babies.

So, yes, Rene and I are married.  We don’t know about the whole “having babies” thing, but it seems like everyone around us is having them!  Today we helped to celebrate our friends Kristin and Jim as they welcomed their new addition to their home.

Baby Nolani (sp?) is adorable, but there were another six or thirty babies in that room all busy being cute.

The difference between married no kids and married with kids becomes wholly apparent when you are one of few married couples without in a room full of marrieds with.  The vocabulary is different, the food is different, the furniture is different, it’s a whole different world.  I’ve known people with kids my whole life, but as i get older I notice the differences more.  I still don’t know how I feel about the whole thing.

Right now we have a dog and he is a wonderful dog who is as precious to us as any child and that’s good enough for me.

Normally I’d pop up pictures of the party, but I’m not a fan of posting pictures of kids so today’s picture is of Rene enjoying a finger full of frosting from the AWESOME cake they served at the party:

I love cake.

Oh, and we had fun with physics as we played with water droplets on a tablecloth that resists moisture:

See you tomorrow!

Project 365 8-16-2010 We Eloped!

Yep, you heard right!  We eloped!  It was an amazing day and we are so grateful that our friends and family could join us!

Enjoy these pics:

These are just the pics from Rene’s camera, there are about a zillion more from different cameras – not including from our photog!  I doubt that I’ll ever get around to posting those, but this is still a good representation of the day.

See you tomorrow!

Project 365 8-14-2010 Last Day At The Fair!

It was the last day at the fair and we took Dean.

Dean hasn’t been to the fair in a long time so we tried to show him all of our favorite parts in just about five hours – it was a tough mission.

I think it is best told in pictures:

By the end of the night I was bloated, my legs hurt and I could barely stay awake.

It was a great night!

See you tomorrow!

Project 365 8-12-2010 Crepes & A Cut

Had a bit of a change in plans, which is never bad as far as I’m concerned.

Unless it is bad, then it’s very upsetting.

But today was not upsetting, it was exciting!  Since my morning was suddenly free I visited my friend Dean’s house where he was hosting a brunch which consisted of crepes, both sweet and savory, and roasted potatoes and coffee and mimosas.

I’m not a very big fan of mimosas, but the coffee was very good, as was the food and so was the company!  Had the extra bonus of seeing a filmmaker friend of mine unexpectedly!  We were able to talk shop and swap some contacts, always nice to do.  And I got my haircut.

But the highlight of my day that wasn’t connecting with good friends was when I got a picture text from my director Zeke:

Apparently the Wiggy logo is making the rounds!

Project 365 7-17-2010 Catch-Up

Sometimes you just need a day to get things back on track.  Today was that kind of day for me.  After school I went back home to wait for Rene to get back from her show, it was a good few hours.  In that time I listed the tasks that need to be done this week, reviewed a bunch of crap and discovered that even though I was catching up on my reading, I was now woefully behind again.  Now I’ve got a nice long list of shit to do, so I’ll take care of that this week.

Oh, and in reference to “things to do” one of those things is to plug Wiggy Webs the new YouTube channel for Wiggy VonSchtick!  Go to the Wiggy Blog to check it out.  The plan is to shoot and edit more content this week, but the way my plans have been going it might get pushed to next week.

When Rene did get home we visited our with our friend Emily at her going away party:

This is Emily with Rene and me.  Brian photo-bombed us.

Then we went home and went to bed.

Well, some of us went to bed a bit early:

(That’s a bonus picture!)

See you tomorrow!

Project 365 7-4-2010 Happy Fourth of July!

Happy Birthday America!

Rene, Frankie and I had a very full Fourth!  We started at the block party on her brother’s street.  They do it every year with food, a giant inflatable water slide and a bike parade that we missed because the alarm didn’t go off.

I didn’t mind that the alarm didn’t go off.

They had a taco guy who made tacos right off a small portable grill which were delicious!  Between the tacos, taquitos and salad I was pretty stuffed – and I managed to miss the cupcakes which I could have totally powered down had there still been one.

Frankie even got into the spirit with patriotic bandana, which is today’s picture:

After the first party we took Frankie home and joined Dean at at new friend Roger’s house!  He’s a voice actor who voiced Chris Redfield in Resident Evil 5 and a whole bunch more, but I’m a R.E. geek so Chris Redfield was enough for me.  He and his lovely girlfriend Steph were marvelous hosts and were very kind to open their home to us.  We floated in the pool, had some drinks, Roger grilled meat – that I eventually made room for – and we played some very hard core air hockey in his game room.

Seriously, the air hockey was hard core!  We played with four pucks at a time and played fifteen minute games.  Very active!  I have bruises forming on my wrist and a sore spot on my palm from the thing that you hit the puck with.  We’ll see how those heal.

Then too finish off the evening Rene and I burned sparklers.

Like I said, full day.

See you tomorrow!

Project 365 6-27-2010 Babies.

Today, after school, Rene and I went to Disneyland to visit with our friend Erik and his baby, Lucy, since they are moving away to Washington.  I’ve never been all that comfortable will very small children.  Until they reach walking age I always feel like I’m going to break them.  Don’t get me wrong, I love kids!  Tiny babies are cute and adorable when they aren’t crying and in spite of my fears of breaking them I do hold and play with them.  Lucy, though, is a pretty neat baby.  At ten months she’s starting to talk, she walks and kind of sings – well, warbles in an attempt to sing.  Both of her parents are theater folks and it has already shown in her tiny personality.
Today’s picture is of me with Lucy:

I think we look cute.  I’m told that I look good with a baby in my arms and people keep asking Rene and I when we’re going to start having babies.  I tell them we have a dog.

Now I just tripped myself out about babies.

See you tomorrow!

Project 365 5-22-2010

As you’ve probably noticed these blogs are REALLY late.  I’m going to pretend that I’m writing on Saturday.

Woke up.

Taught.

Came home.

It was a happily mellow kind of day… until the evening.

Let me start with what was easy about it – the morning and afternoon went exactly as planned, and when I got home Frankie and I played with his stretchy hippopotamus – a recent favorite toy.  We tugged and chased and whipped it around.  Unfortunately we were a little too much for the hippo ‘cuz he ended up like this:

It’s OK, though, the stretchy part is still in one piece and Frankie is still a really big fan of it.

Now to the evening…

…I have a habit of over booking.  I don’t ever intend to do it but I do, and really it wouldn’t be such a big problem if there weren’t so much time required to travel places, but it’s something I’m still working on.  My best friend Jeff had his birthday party tonight and I also needed to be at an Improv Shmimprov show at 11pm.

We managed to make both events, but there was more than a little stress making it happen.  It’s nights like this that remind me that I REALLY need to focus on my time management, especially as life gets busier.

See you tomorrow!

Project 365 5-1-2010 Waiting for Monday

I thought today was Sunday.  My brain was subtly convinced of it.  I went through my typical Saturday routine, but in my head I had a very “Sunday” feeling.  I think part of it is because I’m actually waiting on Monday, which has become a mantra on the last two films that Wiggy has made.  It feels like it takes a whole week to build up to something and then we’re “waiting for Monday” to get a response.  This can make the weekends either calming or maddening!

When it comes to weekends like this distractions are key!  Part of the distractions that Rene and I took part in was my friend Scott’s birthday celebration.  I’ve known Scott for a long time, I talked about how long in THIS post.  We almost (this close) totally screwed up by scheduling a dinner party for the same night.  I blame the calendar integration between Facebook and Google Calendar for the failure of the event making it to my personal calendar… but I should really take the responsibility of not paying much attention to FB events.  As a side note and personal rant I am not a fan of the “create an event and have people “attend” when it’s a cause.  I feel like if it is a cause it should have a fan page.  Event pages are for, you know, events where I’m supposed to show up to something at a place.  My in-box is always full of that crap and it’s always something stupid i.e., “I Love Ice Cream Day!  Attending this events means you love ice cream!”  Really?  I’m sure somewhere there’s a fan page for ice cream, do we really need to just pick a single day or, heaven forbid, a whole week to show that we like ice cream?  And if you’re going to say you love ice cream then shouldn’t there be an actual meet-up to actually EAT ice cream?!?!?  It’s madness!

5 points to the first comment that says, “It’s Sparta.”

Anyhow, we went to Scott’s birthday and had fondue, cupcakes and a monster veggie tray before diving into a game of killer bunnies – it’s a card game about the horrible murder of cartoon bunnies.  It’s fun and a good social game that can be as cut-throat as Wall Street before the bailout.  My bunny was murdered early in the game, but today’s picture is of that bunny:

He was both sinister and yellow.  Yellow just doesn’t seem like a very sinister color to me, it’s so vibrant and cheerful.  In the end Rene won the game, and then promptly fell asleep on the couch.  We’re such hell raisers.

See you tomorrow!

Project 365 4-28-2010

I don’t even know where the day went today.  I woke up early, thought I was getting things done and then, BAM!, it’s 5pm!  The whole month has been moving like this.  I either need my concept of time to change or I need to find a way to add more hours to the day.

A more realistic answer is to manage my time better – which I guess, technically, would add more hours to my day.  Silly reason making everything seem simple *sarcastic smile*.

Rene and I did get a chance to catch up with our friends G. Charles Wright and the Keatings for a drink at the Disneyland Hotel, and that was very nice.  Through the course of the discussion we found out that Rene and I will have the same wedding anniversary as Amber and John!  Crazy coincidence!

Today’s picture is one that I took of the rest of the group in an old Autopia car:

John is particularly stunning.

See you tomorrow!
